Ranch homes with lake attitudes

Conway — the neighborhoods around Little Lake Conway and Lake Gatlin — is classic Orlando: mid-century ranch homes, many with lake frontage or lake access, and original windows that have been there since the house was built. Aluminum single-hungs, jalousies in the Florida rooms, sliders that haven't glided since the 90s. It's all replaceable, and the transformation is dramatic.

The lake effect

Little Lake Conway's shoreline homes get open-water wind across the lake — and the lake-facing glass is usually the biggest in the house. Those are the priority openings: impact-rated for the exposure, low-E for the sun reflecting off the water, and properly sealed against the wind-driven rain that hits waterfront homes hardest.

Florida rooms and enclosures

Half of Conway seems to have a Florida room — and most of them have the original jalousies or single-pane sliders. Converting a Florida room to real impact windows and doors turns a three-season afterthought into year-round living space: quieter, cooler, and protected. It's one of the highest-satisfaction projects we do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you convert my Florida room's jalousies to real windows?

Yes — it's one of our favorite transformations. We replace jalousies and old sliders with proper impact windows and doors, and the room becomes usable year-round instead of just in mild weather.

My ranch has the original 1960s windows. Is retrofit possible?

Sometimes — it depends on the frame condition after 60 years. We'll inspect each opening during the measuring visit and tell you honestly which qualify for retrofit and which need full replacement.

What about the lake-facing sliders?

They're the priority — biggest glass, most exposure. Modern impact sliders with low-E are quieter, cooler, and actually secure, unlike the originals.
